Relaxed business meetings and team building
The Tudor barn and separate Old Brooder bunkhouse are easily accessible but in a quiet, beautiful and rural location on an environmentally friendly farm with lots of places to visit and activities to do. Set in a quiet and beautiful farm location, our barn and bunkhouse can offer your company a unique setting for relaxed and informal meetings, corporate training or team-building events. Overnight stays can be accommodated for up to 22 guests in the Tudor barn and 20 guests in the Old Brooder bunkhouse (and overflow guests in our three Milden Hall farmhouse rooms) - but please note the somewhat unusual and fairly communal sleeping arrangements that will not suit all groups. And, sorry, we don't host Christmas sleepover or other super-rowdy work parties.
Have a holiday while you’re working
Your staff will feel like they’re on holiday in the barn and bunkhouse - the atmosphere is very different from a conventional corporate hotel venue. We’ve welcomed diverse groups from RBS, DNV, Direct Line Insurance, Suffolk County Council, Nestle Purina, Pizza Hut, Universities of Cambridge and Bedfordshire and Starbuck, and charities including Cancer Research UK, Refugee Youth and Suffolk Wildlife Trust. Many of our business guests regularly return and several return with families and friends for a proper holiday!
Facilities for work ... and play
We have breakout space and flipcharts for working together and apart – but note that WiFi is a bit restricted to the bunkhouse and not available in the Tudor barn. We have activities for team building – 40 bikes to borrow for a village bike trail quiz, a tennis court, table tennis, table football, croquet and 500 acres of farm for organised outdoor activities – and lots of ideas for what might suit your group. Locally you can carry out conservation activities on a nearby nature reserve, kayak or canoe down the River Stour, take a team on a high wire Go Ape action adventure, get a dance or art tutor in, play rounders on a meadow or weave a willow basket. Self-cater or catered
You can choose whether you want to be totally self-catering or whether you’d like us to help provide meals. We are always happy to unpack a supermarket delivery to await your arrival and organise a local chef for some or all of your meals.
The barn and bunkhouse are a 1.5 hour drive from London and 1 hour from Cambridge. Or keep your carbon footprint down and come by train. Sudbury rail station is 12 minutes away and 1 hour’s journey from London Liverpool Street. Bury St Edmunds rail station is 25 minutes away and linked to the Midlands and the North. Stansted airport is an hour’s drive away. We can provide you with lists of coaches, taxis and suggested transport routes.
Bunkhouse charges work out as little as £25 per person per night midweek with discounts for charities. Contact us with your requirements and we will quote.
