Milden Hall - a family farm for over 200 years

Check out who we are and what we’re passionate about

The Hawkins family are very hands-on with the farm, barn and bunkhouse business - and all have a multitude of jobs in addition to their roles at Milden! Christopher farms and is a keen local historian; and Juliet is an ecologist and passionate conservationist, advising farmers for 35+ years. The Hawkins girls (seventh generation at Milden) - Holly, Ruby Tiger and Daisy - are all equally passionately concerned about the environment and involved in Milden Hall one way or another. They have been herding chickens, making beds, planting trees, pruning raspberries and welcoming guests since they were able to walk!

Christopher is the farmer, the problem-solver and usually smiling (unless there is a weather issue). He spends every second that he’s not farming, field-walking for artefacts, doing local history and is an obsessive collector of beautiful things - including Suffolk maps, prints and postcards.

Juliet divides her time between being a farm conservation adviser for Suffolk farmers and multi-tasking for the barn business - marketing, admin, teaching, cooking, gardening, bed-making! She is passionate about fungi, water beetles, newts, and all things wild. She doesn’t sleep!

Ruby Tiger juggles part-time working for Wild Frontiers in operations (adventure travel) and the Milden Hall barn business where she is running the farm accounts, helping with admin and social media, making beds, painting and decorating - and running wine-tasting sessions for guests.

Jamie Woodward recently returned from working in Africa with Ruby Tiger.  He also juggles part-time working for Africa Travel Resource with learning to farm, wield a chainsaw, maintain our fleet of bikes, and run wine-tasting evenings for guests. He is eternally smiley and obliging.

Holly and Daisy both work full time for charities - Holly for Girl Guiding and Daisy for WWF-UK - and both are staunch environmentalists. They both help, remotely, with our social media and coming up with good promotion ideas. And when they are home, they help make beds!

Warren Boreham works on the farm, tilling fields and mending farm machinery. However, he is our secret weapon as he also doubles as superman in calmly dealing with all things electrical, plumbing crises, broken cars and gadgets, and finding spare parts for things - we all need a Warren.
