Directions to Milden Hall, near Lavenham, CO10 9NY

There are two signed entrances:

  • The front drive is on a sharp bend (and quite easy to miss, especially in the dark) off the B1115 between Milden cross-roads and Little Waldingfield village.  This drive is not good for low slung cars. Please excuse the potholes - we do mend them regularly but they also serve as speed bumps.

  • The back concrete-surfaced farm drive (0.6 miles long) is opposite the old red telephone box in village of Milden (bear right in the farmyard and car park and Old Brooder is to the left and the Tudor barn entrance straight ahead.).

Parking

  • For large events please use signed car park.

  • For Tudor barn self-catering guests, park a few cars next to the chestnut paling fence (not in front of cartlodge as this blocks other vehicle/emergency access) and then overflow into the main car park.

  • For Old Brooder self-catering guests, follow signs to the car park and park there - the bunkhouse is next to the car park.

  • For guests staying in the farmhouse please park in front of house to unload car, or in the little walled courtyard next to the house.

Public transport and taxis

Accessible from Harwich and Stansted airport (c£70 by taxi). Easy driving distance to Cambridge (1hr), Bury St Edmunds (30 mins), Norwich (75 mins), Suffolk coast (75 mins).We have a good contact for taxis from Heathrow (c£130) or Gatwick (c£140) – they can carry up to 6 passengers with minimal luggage.

Sudbury is the nearest (tiny) train station – a 15 minute (c£14 for 4) taxi ride to Milden. From London Liverpool Street, you must change at Marks Tey for the hourly train to Sudbury.

Colchester is 30+ minutes away by taxi (c£30 for 4) with regular trains to and from Liverpool Street.

Bury St Edmunds train station (25 mins away) is approached from the Midlands and the North.

Ask us for list of local taxis. Taxis need booking up well in advance and clarification that this is The Hall at Milden (not the town of Mildenhall). Back drive is opposite telephone box in Milden village.
